HALLOWEEN: 31st OCTOBER: Learn and Celebrate the Night the Dead Return as Ghosts
Nowadays this autumn festivity is celebrated in Spain as if it had always existed. All children at school learn about this tradition and it has become so popular among youngsters, that we seem to have forgotten the Spanish tradition of celebrating "La Castañada".
Chesnuts have been substituted by pumpkins, which is another delicious foodstuff that Autumn provides us with but in the more terrifying version of them which is the Jack O´lanterns.
Desguising and having night parties has also become very popular, not to mention the ritual of asking for sweets in the "Trick or Treat" practice.
But how much do kids know about Halloween? Where do all these traditions come from? This is a cultural reference that is often dodged.
In this section there are two activities suitable for students studying 1st ESO (11-12-year-old students). The activities cover vocabulary related to this tradition and have been designed using Augmented Reality. The reader will also find the explanation of how to create the material and how to carry out the activities in class.
A curated selection of resources is also provided. They can either be used to prepare extra material or to offer students further information and practice.

SAINT GEORGE´S DAY: 23rd APRIL: Learn and Celebrate our Patron Saint´s Day
If there is one thing we share with the English, this is the fact of having the same Patron Saint. A lot has been written about Saint George and his brave deeds. His world wide spread legend has taken many forms depending on the country in which he is celebrated.
Even though in Catalonia it is not a bank holiday (that means that people have to go to work), it is one of the most loved and awaited festivity. But how much do you know about this legend?
In this section there are two booklets which contain a variety of activities suitable for students studying 1st and 2nd ESO (12-13-year-old students). Activities cover vocabulary related to the legend and the festivity, reading comprehension, short writing tasks, CLIL activities related to history and geography, poetry and drama. At the end of each booklet, there is a wide range of creative handicrafts to decorate the classroom.
A curated selection of resources is also provided. They can either be used to prepare extra material or to offer students further information and practice.
